3 Short Destinations You Need to Head to This Summer Getaway
Tired of slogging it out in Singapore? Sick of the mundane life in Singapore? You need to get off that comfy chair and start pulling out your passport and backpack! Sitting on the train or bus wondering how your peers and colleagues afford so much time and cash to land those fresh and beautiful Instagram pictures doesn’t help in relieving that inner stress in you. Let me have the honour of introducing you 3 places that:
These places only take one or two days at most to tour everything, which is ideal for busy working bees like us.
1. Wulong Karst Geological Park, Chongqing, China
The Three Natural Bridges: Tianlong Bridge, Qinglong Bridge and Heilong Bridge are the main attractions of the area. The three natural karst stone arch bridges, with an average height of over 200 meters, and an average span of over 200 meters, constitute the largest natural bridge cluster in Asia. There are various ways to get here, be it by car, by train or by bus. You might want to refer to some website links I have prepared at the end of the post.
2. Luang Prabang, Laos
Kyaaaaaa! Fancy indulging in cool mist by a waterfall this hot summer? The Kuang Si falls in Luang Prabang must not be missed! It looks like a celestial pool right out of a Wuxia novel with flowy clear, turquoise water. Lugging along some picnic snacks for lunch is very recommended. Besides the waterfall, the main town in Luang Prabang is, in fact, a famous UNESCO Heritage Site decorated with quiet streets, colourful tuk-tuk, beautiful French colonial houses and lovely coffee bars.
Visit the Vat Xieng Thong Temple and immerse yourself in the breathtaking, glorious sunset reflected on the Mekong River. For the adventurous, feel free to take some time to scale the Phousi mountain and view the vast landscape from the high ground.
3. Song Saa Private Islands, Cambodia
Many of us are slaves to technology and the ease of connectivity today. And therefore, folks, having a few days off at Song Saa Private Islands is what you need.
There are a plethora of items you can do. Start by taking a kayak or catamaran with a picnic to explore the area. Then snorkel around the islands to spot grouper and parrotfish. Or you could explore Koh Bong with a conservation team member to spot kingfishers, sea eagles and Malaysian plovers. Do you know there’s a romantic story on how Song Saa Private Islands came about?
